Privacy policy

This policy explains what information MoneyLifeCalc ("we," "us") handles when you use this website, and your choices. In short: the numbers you type into our calculators stay on your own device, and we never see them.

Numbers you enter in the calculators

Every calculation runs in your web browser. The numbers you enter are never sent to us, and we cannot see them.

So you don't have to retype them, your entries, ledger years, and net worth history are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. Once a day, a backup copy of that data is also kept in the same local storage (the last 7 days). If you choose to download a backup file, or set up an automatic backup file in Chrome or Edge, that file is saved only where you choose on your own device. None of this data is sent to us.

You can reset any calculator, turn off automatic daily backups, or delete everything the site has saved in your browser on the Your data and backups page. Clearing your browser's site data also removes it. If you use a shared or public computer, consider deleting your entries when you finish.

Suggestions and messages you send us

If you use our suggestion or contact form, we receive what you write and, if you include it, your name and email address. Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes these form submissions for us. We use this information only to read your suggestion, reply to you, and improve the site. We do not sell it, and we delete messages we no longer need.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider, Netlify, automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the date and time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure, and fix problems. We do not use it to identify you. Our fonts and code are served from our own site, not loaded from third parties.

We do not currently use analytics or tracking tools. If we add a visitor-counting tool, we will name it here and choose one that does not track you across other websites.

Advertising and cookies

This site may show ads served by Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Where required by law, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and some US states, you will be asked for your choices before personalized ads are shown.

Apart from advertising, this site does not set cookies. The local storage described above is used only to provide features you use.

Affiliate links

Some pages may in the future include links to partner companies that pay us a commission if you sign up. We will label these links clearly. The calculators' results are never changed to favor a partner.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and other US states, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. Because your calculator numbers never reach us, the only personal information we might hold is what you send through our forms. To make a request, contact us through the contact page or at hello@moneylifecalc.com. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for advertising, where the law requires it.

Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Because your calculator data stays in your browser, its safety also depends on your device and browser security.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
